Syros
Explore Syros in Greece, a charming island that belongs to the Cyclades archipelago. Unlike other Cycladic islands, Syros boasts medieval-style architecture. The island's capital, Ermoupolis, boasts elegant Venetian mansions, picturesque Vaporia quarter, grand churches, and stunning new classic buildings, such as the Town Hall and Apollo Theatre in the central square. Relax on Syros' beaches, surrounded by tourist facilities and accommodations, making it the perfect destination for families and couples seeking a romantic getaway. Thanks to its position as a ferry transportation hub, Syros holidays can easily be combined with other Greek islands. Take a hike up the hill above Ermoupolis to Ano Syros, a traditionally Catholic community. Syros also offers some of Greece's best sandy beaches with crystal-clear waters, including Galissas, Megas Gialos, Kini, and Posidonia, perfect for families with children and anyone looking for a seaside escape just meters from the shore.
► Local products of the island include honey, kopanitsi cheese, the famous red wine, loukoumi, which is a sweet made from rose and pistachio, and a cake filled with almonds and nougat (halvadopita).
►The main regions of Syros Island are Ano Syros, Ermoupoli, Galissas.
