The island of Kefalonia, in Ionian Sea belongs to the Ionian islands group. The largest of the Ionian islands, located between Lefkada and Zante, Kefalonia island provides a wonderful place for family holidays. The capital is Argostoli, other cosmopilation regions you could visit are Lixouri, Poros, Sami and Skala. The Ionian is known for its beautiful  exotic beaches and Kefalonia is no exception. Its beaches are famous for their clear waters and relaxing atmosphere. Myrtos, Antisamos, Lourdas and Skala are the nicest beaches, however visitors will also find numerous other gorgeous places to swim. You could also walk around the  beautiful villages Fiscardo, Argostoli and Assos  with traditional architecture, cosmopolitan style and top quality restaurants.
Of particular interest are the caves of the island, such as the Melissani Lagoon, the Drogarati Cave and many other things worth visiting.

   Ferries - There are no direct ferries from Athens to Kefalonia but many locations on the western part of the Greek mainland, from some islands of the Ionian and from Brindisi port in Italy.
