Milonas Gorge in Ierapetra Crete is a must-visit destination for nature enthusiasts. It is situated between the charming villages of Agios Ioannis and Schinokapsala at an elevation of 500m and spans 7km, culminating at Kakia Skala beach. While it's not feasible to traverse the entire gorge due to the presence of multiple waterfalls, you can hike up to the magnificent Milonas waterfall, which stands at 40m tall and is located 300m above sea level. The waterfall is especially impressive during the winter or early spring when the water flow is heavier, and a secondary waterfall emerges alongside it. However, even in summer, the Milonas Gorge is an ideal place to explore, although the heat can be challenging during the ascent. You can cool off at the foot of the waterfall, which forms a small pond surrounded by rocks - a perfect respite after your trek. Don't forget to add Milonas Gorge to your bucket list when in Ierapetra Crete.
