Agios Stefanos Cave in Syros, Greece
Syros Caves - It is located near Galissas Beach and can be accessed either on foot via the seaside path or by boat. According to the legend, a fisherman named Stefanos built the chapel in the cave because, when he was attacked by a giant octopus, he was saved while praying to the saint and made a vow to build a small church there. The small cave of Agios Stefanos in Syros, with its fresh running water and legendary Catholic chapel, composes a mysterious landscape. The ideal time to visit the chapel is on the 19th of August during the Feast of Agios Stefanos, where the locals will offer you a drink with mastic and delights.
