Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens
The foundation of this grand structure was in Christmas in 1842. When building was used of marble from 72 demolished churches. Today it is the cathedral of the Archbishop of Athens and All Greece. At Metropolitan there are three naves and a cupola, and inside the tombs are installed the two saints who died in the attack of the Turks. In 2009, the cathedral was closed for a summer renovation. Behind the cathedral a small basilica is built.
