Astypalea stands between the Cyclades and the Dodecanese like cultural bridge. The island has the shape of the butterfly and that is why they call it the butterfly island. Even though it is in the group of the Dodecanese, it has a Cycladic architecture. Whitewash houses and blue windows, stone windmills and narrow alleys create a traditional atmosphere and character. It is a quiet island not crowded tourists with its secluded beaches. The capital is the Astypalea Town located on the south side of the island. Astypalea is the right island for peaceful holidays.
Local products of the island include honey, tangarines and pougia which is a cheese pie with honey.

How to get there
