Helmis Museum in Zakynthos, Greece
This museum of Natural History is the only one of its kind not only in Greece but in Zakynthos. Its opening ceremony took place on the 10th of October, 2000 and the founder is Mr. Panayiotis Helmis. The Helmis Museum is located at Agia Marina Village on Zakynthos island, in a beautiful traditional building. It presents more than 1,500 specimen from the flora, fauna and sea life of Zakynthos. Animals are represented in their natural environment, while visitors can also see collections of rare fish and birds. Other sections of the museum have mineral rocks and fossils with ancient plant and animal imprints.
