Ataviros Mountain in Rhodes
The Ataviros is the only mountain of Rhodes with 1,215 meters altitude. Located west of the island. The Attaviros has significant flora and fauna with important species platoni (Dama-Dama deer) which is a symbol of the island. The vegetation of the mountain, above the east side, suffered severe damage to the great fire of Rhodes in July 2008, which burned 100,000 acres forest and agricultural area. In Ataviros are the highest vineyards of the island. Towards the top of Mount there is Ataviros temple of Zeus. The main trail to the top of Attaviros starts from the village of Agios Isidoros.
