Located just 5 km west of Nea Epidavros village in Peloponnese, the Taxiarches Monastery in Epidavros is a historical and spiritual site that dates back to the 15th century. This sacred place is home to the relics of Saint Gabriel, the assistant of Saint Nyphon, which are kept in the main church. The monastery played a crucial role in the Greek War of Independence and even organized Greek language classes for enslaved Greek children. Although the original 21 sq. m. main church was demolished in 1945, a small Byzantine church was erected on its site. Today, the monastery is inhabited solely by nuns and is open to visitors who want to explore its rich history and religious significance.
