Arahova Churches & Monasteries - The Osios Loukas Monastery in Arahova, Greece, is a stunning example of Byzantine architecture. Situated in the District of Distomo, only 30 kilometers from Arahova, it was founded by Osios Loukas in the 11th century. This monastery features breathtaking frescoes and mosaics with a stunning golden background. You'll be amazed by the intricate designs on the walls, which resemble cursive Arabic script. Osios Loukas Monastery was wealthy in its time thanks to pilgrims who offered money and gifts to the tomb of Saint Lucas for help in difficult times, while waiting for a miracle.
