Kounopetra is an impressive beach 40 km south of Argostoli, the capital of Kefalonia and 10 km from the beautiful village of Lixouri. The beach itself is considered a huge geological phenomenon and is that there is a huge rock that stands out of the sea and creates a relentless movement. According to the locals, the rock was moving every 20 minutes before the big earthquake in 1953. Kounopetra is a delightful beach with its crystal clear waters and relaxing atmoshere. It offers very few facilities and near there is a small port with boats and private yachts.
