The Ancient Town of Thermi is one of the most ancient sites of the island. Excavations have brought to light an architectural design of the settlement with roads, thermal baths and shops. Thermi was the name chosen by the Romans when they built the original thermal baths which were fed from the natural hot springs, and the location was transformed into a holiday resort. The goddess Artemis, protector of thermal springs was worshipped there. Today in this ancient site there are still many settlements to be researched with continuing excavations.
