Ilias Sights & Monuments - Ancient Figalia in Ilias, Peloponnese was once a formidable city enclosed by a sturdy wall and boasting both round and rectangular towers. Even today, the towers remain in relatively good condition, serving as a testament to the city's former power. According to Roman travel writer Pausanias, the Temple of Artemis housed priests and was accompanied by a gymnasium, an agora, and statues of Hermes and Olympic champion Arachiona. The latter was discovered in the ancient agora of the town, providing a glimpse into Figalia's rich history.
