Athenian Treasury in Delphi, Greece
Built around 470 BC to commemorate the Battle of Marathon victory of the Athenians stands the Treasury of Athens in Delphi. It was an offer to Apollo. It was reconstructed between 1903 - 1906. The style of the metope relief sculpture [featuring Theseus and Herakles] is transitional and combines the freshness of Archaic art with the severity of Early Classical.
