The village of Maherado is the second largest village of Zakynthos with a population of about 1,000 inhabitants most of whom are involved in agriculture and farming. The beautiful mountainous village is located 10 km south of Zakynthos Town. Its main attraction is the Church of Agia Mavra. The church is famous for housing the miraculous icon of Agia Mavra which is surrounded by various offerings among which is the valuable and beautiful jewel of Queen Olga.
