The central part of Lesvos housed the capital, Kaloni. The largest plain in this area has been deemed a protected site by the European Network of Natura 2000, where visitors can enjoy viewing rare bird species at the famous Kaloni Wetland attraction. Additionally, Kaloni is home to the grand Monastery of Limonos and features a fishing port and organized beach on its southern side. How To Get There

Kaloni is 48 kilometers and roughly 35 minutes by car from the town of Mytilini, in the center of the island of Lesvos. After traveling by plane or ferry to Lesvos, you can take a local bus from Mytilini, schedule a private transfer, take a taxi, or rent a car to go to Kaloni. If you wish to use the bus, you have to go to the main bus station (LESVOS KTEL), which is in the heart of Mytilini near the Agia Irini Park, in order to reach Kaloni. Buses do not run on Sundays.
