Kritsa

With a population of 1,300, Kritsa is one of the oldest villages in Crete and boasts a well-preserved old architectural structure. The inhabitants of Kritsa are descendants of Lato Etera, and the ruins of this ancient city can be found just 3 km north-east of the village. While few excavations have been carried out in Kritsa, those that have were able to unearth the Prytaneion and the Holy City in the market space. How To Get There

Renting a car is the quickest and easiest way to reach Kritsa and admiring the beautiful Cretan landscape while driving. Buses are dependable, reasonably priced, and air-conditioned, and they take around 15 minutes to reach Kritsa from the main bus terminal at Agios Nikolaos.  If you are arriving at Heraklion airport, take the KTEL bus from Central Station A, located close to Heraklion port, to reach Agios Nikoloas, and then you must take another bus from there to Kritsa.
