Gournes

Visit Gournes in Heraklion, Crete, located just 15 kilometers east of the city and situated between Kokkini Hani and Gouves. Named after the Greek word "gourna" meaning "basin", Gournes was once abundant with watering places. In the late fifties, the American Air Force communications (no planes) base opened in Gournes, transforming the once-sleepy village into a bustling town. How To Get There

The journey lasts 15 minutes.  KTEL buses operate from Bus Station A, located on the opposite side of the road, across from the seaport in Heraklion. Hourly buses travel to Gournes.
