One of the interesting things to meet in Damalas Naxos is the pottery of Manolis Lyberta. It is the only currently active potter of Sifnian origin. He is a descendant of the fourth generation of potters, when his grandfather, Dimitrios Chrysos, who knew the art of clay, came from Sifnos around 1870 and founded his workshop in Naxos. Later he married his daughter here and so then he learned the art, the grandson by his grandfather and later his son by the father.
Manoli's vases are both traditional for use as well as modern for decorative vases.
Many of its tangible products are glazed with some decoration or monochrome or others are in the natural color of the clay.
Anyone who visits the pottery of Limpertas in Naxos can watch live the construction of clay vessels on both electric and pedal wheels.
If there is time, the visitor can also test his or her own potential on the wheel.
In general, Manolis' personality and humor make it even more enjoyable to visit the Pottery.
On the same main road and just before the entrance to Damalas village (about 100 meters) is the pottery exhibition of the same potter. Small hand-made clay constructions, as well as high-tech glasses such as "racoons", are also made here.
