At approximately 1221m in altitude, Minthi is the highest mountain in Olympia. According to the legend, Minthi was a nymph, who due to the relationship that she had with the god of the underworld, Hades, was transformed into an aromatic plant named after the goddess Demeter, who was Hades’ mother-in-law. The lush vegetation of the mountain was destroyed in the fire in 2007 and now only some sparse forests are left.
