Ancient Stagira is about 500 meters southeast of the current settlement of Olympiada, on a small, mountainous and beautiful peninsula called "Liotopi".  The location of the city, known to all as Aristotle's homeland, is certainly identified by both ancient writers 'reports and contemporary scholars' research.  Excavations at the site started in 1990, and a lot of artifacts were retrieved and exhibited in a special area area in Olympiada.
