Churches / Monasteries in Ithaca
Religion in Greece has always been a tradition and can be easily seen by many churches and monasteries found in Ithaca. Apart from the church of Panagia Kathariotissa which is the protector and the most pilgrimage center of the island, there is also Agios Andreas, a small whitewashed chapel standing at the entrance of the harbor. Another religious temple worth visiting is Savior Lazaretto church. This church is hidden in a small islet in the port of the gulf of Ithaca and is one of the most popular destinations for couples from all over Greece, who choose the church of Lazaretto as a very romantic destination for their wedding.
